Prince Edward Island (PEI) invited 153 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada PR in the new PNP draw on May 20, 2022

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) conducted its monthly scheduled round of invitations on May 20, 2022.

A total of 153 immigration candidates under the Express Entry, Labour Impact, and Business Impact streams of PEI PNP received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada PR in this draw.

Out of total invitations issued, 137 went to Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates. PEI PNP did not disclose a breakdown of how many Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates were invited, nor the minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score required for each category.

Another 16 invitations were issued to Business Impact candidates under the Work Permit Stream of PEI PNP.  In order to receive an invite under this stream, candidates were required to have a minimum provincial score of 62 points.

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)

Prince Edward Island is one of the easternmost islands of Canada and is known for its pastoral scenery and enormous job opportunities.

For those who are seeking permanent residency in Prince Edward Island, one pathway is to be nominated to the federal government through the PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category is for candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system. Express Entry candidates, who would like to be considered for a provincial nomination from the province, need to create a separate EOI profile with the PEI PNP.

These profiles are given a score on the basis of information provided in their EOI based on factors such as education, work experience, and proficiency in English or French. The highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws.

Successful Express Entry candidates, who receive a Prince Edward Island Provincial Nomination Certificate, get additional 600 points toward their overall Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which effectively guarantees them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

The next PEI PNP draw is scheduled for June 16, 2022.

545 PNP candidates received invitations to apply for Canada PR in a new Express Entry Draw on May 11

Canada invited another 545 Express Entry candidates, who had previously received a nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to apply for permanent residency in a new invitation round held on May 11, 2022.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off for this draw was 753. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied the tie-breaking rule and the time-stamp was set for December 15, 2021 at 20:32:57 UTC.

IRCC is currently holding only PNP-specific draws. However, Canada’s Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced on April 22 that IRCC resume draws for FSWP and CEC candidates by “early July”.

HOW TO IMMIGRATE TO CANADA THROUGH EXPRESS ENTRY-ALIGNED PNPS

Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) kept affirming itself as the rising star of Canada’s economic immigration programs. PNP enables participating Canadian provinces and territories to nominate a certain number of economic immigrants for Canadian permanent residence each year.

A part of these nominations is known as ‘enhanced’ nominations and allow a province or territory to pick up candidates from the Express Entry pool and invite them to apply for a provincial nomination.

Steps to apply for the PNP through Express Entry:

Step 1: Submit an Express Entry profile

Step 2: Receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) from a province or territory (upon meeting requirements)

Step 3: Lodge your PNP application within time-frame

Step 4: Get a provincial nomination – receive 600 additional CRS points

Step 5: Get an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence in an Express Entry Draw

Step 6: Submit your PR application within 60 days

Step 7: Receive a Canadian PR visa

Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination by a Canadian province or territory are awarded an additional 600 points toward their CRS score, which directly increases their chances to receive an ITA for Canadian permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

Express Entry Draw #221 –April 27, 2022

Canada invited 829 Express Entry candidates to apply for PR in new Express Entry Draw on April 27

Canada invited 829 immigration candidates to apply for permanent residency in new Express Entry draw held on April 27, 2022.

Invitations to apply (ITAs) were issued to candidates, who had previously received a nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) of at least 772.

Candidates with a provincial nomination get additional 600 points added to their overall CRS score. Therefore, the CRS score cut-off for PNP-specific Express Entry draws is usually quite high.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied the tie-breaking rule and the time-stamp used was March 24, 2022 at 8:00:50 UTC. This means the PNP candidates who had a CRS score of 772 or more and had submitted their Express Entry profile before this time and date, received an invitation to apply (ITA)  in this round of invitations.

Results:  #221 –April 27, 2022

  • Stream: Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
  • Date and time of round: April 27,2022 16:04:21 UTC
  • Number of invitations issued: 829

The Express Entry system is the fastest and most efficient path for skilled workers to get Canadian permanent residency. It is a completely electronic process and manages applications for permanent residence under these three federal economic immigration programs: The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Throughout the pandemic, IRCC focused on conducting PNP-only draws to support provincial immigration goals. However, Canada’s Immigration minister Sean Fraser has recently announced that IRCC will resume inviting FSWP and CEC candidates to apply for PR by “early July.”

Invited candidates now have 60 calendar days to submit a complete immigration application to IRCC.
