Canada invited 1036 PNP candidates to apply for PR in new Express Entry Draw

Express Entry Draw #214: January 19, 2022

Canada invited 1036 PNP candidates to apply for PR in new Express Entry Draw

Canada immigration conducted another PNP- Specific Express Entry draw on January 19, 2022.

A total of 1036 immigration candidates, who previously obtained a nomination from an Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), received invitations to apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residency (PR) in this draw.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cutoff was 745.The CRS score requirement is quite high since immigration candidates who meet the selection criteria of an Express Entry-aligned PNP stream and successfully receive a provincial nomination invitation, can automatically obtain additional 600 points toward their CRS Scores.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied a tie break in this draw. That means all PNP candidates with a CRS score of 745 and above who had submitted their profiles in the Express Entry pool before July 05, 2021 at 13:12:05 UTC received Invitations in this draw.

The Express Entry system is Canada’s primary source of skilled foreign workers. It is an online system used by IRCC to manage and process applications for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents of Canada through three federal economic immigration programs – The Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC), Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC).

Express Entry is a competitive immigration system. All eligible candidates are ranked against one another according to Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which award them scores out of 1200 based on their age, education, language proficiency, work experience & other factors.

The high-ranking candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws conducted by IRCC.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, IRCC has only conducted PNP and CEC specific draws as these candidates are highly likely to be in Canada already. The FSWP candidates did not receive invitations to apply for permanent residence since December 2020.

As of January 4, 2022, there are over 194,000 candidates in the Federal Express Entry pool. About 80% of these candidates are eligible for FSWP.

EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #213: January 5, 2022

EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #213: January 5, 2022

Canada invited 392 immigration candidates to apply for Permanent Residency in its first Express Entry draw of 2022 on January 5

Canada conducted its first Express Entry draw of 2022 on January 5.

A total of 392 Express Entry candidates, who previously obtained a nomination from an Express-entry aligned Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian Permanent Residency in this draw.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cutoff for this draw was 808. Express Entry candidates, who received a provincial nomination, automatically get 600 additional points toward their overall CRS score.  This is the reason that CRS cut-off score for PNP-specific draws is usually high.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied the tie-breaking rule and the time-stamp used was March 04, 2021 at 16:57:50 UTC. This means the PNP candidates who had a CRS score of 808 or more and had submitted their Express Entry profile before this time and date, received an ITA in this round of invitations.

Canada Express Entry System

The Express Entry system is Canada’s primary source of skilled foreign workers. It manages the profiles of candidates under three Federal High Skilled economic class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FST) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Eligible candidates enter the Express Entry pool, where they are issued a CRS score based on their age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French, among other factors.  A set number of highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool.

Since September 2021, IRCC has only been holding PNP-specific draws as these candidates are highly likely to be in Canada already. Moreover, increasing backlog in applications is another major reason that IRCC is conducting only PNP-specific Express Entry draws.  The immigration department wants to cut Express Entry backlogs in at least half before resuming all-program Express Entry round of invitations.

In 2021, IRCC has invited more than 114,000 Express Entry candidates to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency. Out of total ITAs issued, 14,778 have been rendered to PNP candidates while the remaining 99,654 ITAs went to CEC candidates.
