Alberta PNP Draw – November 9, 2021

200 Express Entry candidates with minimum CRS scores of 343 received invitations to apply for provincial nomination for Canada PR

The Canadian province of Alberta released details of its latest immigration draw held on November 9, 2021.

A total of 200 immigration candidates received invitations, also known as Notification of Interest (NOI) Letters to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian Permanent Residency in this draw.

Invites were issued to immigration candidates, who had Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of at least 343 in the Express Entry system.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program’s (AINP) Express Entry Stream allows the province to search the federal Express Entry Pool for candidates who meet its specific eligibility requirements and invite them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

Applicants need to meet the following assessment criteria to submit an application to the Alberta Express Entry Stream. The applicant must:

  • have an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool
  • meet the criteria of at least one of the federal immigration programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program or Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • intend to and be able to live and work in Alberta
  • be working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification
  • have a Comprehensive Ranking System score of at least 300

In addition, there are certain factors that can increase applicant’s chances of receiving invitation, like:

  • having a job offer and/or work experience in the province;
  • hold a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; or
  • having a parent, child, or sibling who is a permanent resident or citizen in Alberta

Express Entry candidates who successfully receive a nomination from Alberta, obtain  an additional 600 points toward their CRS score, which effectively increase their chances to get an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Express Entry draw.

AINP has now invited total 6,359 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination so far in 2021.

EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #210: November 24, 2021

EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #210: November 24, 2021

Canada invited 613 PNP candidates to apply for Canada PR in new Express Entry Draw on November 24

Canada conducted another Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-specific Express Entry Draw on November 24, 2021.

A total of 613 Express Entry candidates, who had previously obtained nominations through an Express-entry aligned PNP, received Invitations to apply (ITAs) for Canadian Permanent Residency in this draw.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off threshold for this draw was 737 points.

Express Entry candidates, who received a provincial nomination, automatically get 600 additional points toward their overall CRS score.  This is the reason that CRS cut-off score for PNP-specific draws is usually high.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied the tie-breaking rule and the time-stamp used was June 22 2021 at 20:19:59 PM UTC. This means the PNP candidates who had a CRS score of 737 or more and had submitted their Express Entry profile before this time and date, received an invitation to apply (ITA) in this round of invitations. If more than one applicant has the lowest CRS score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their profiles in the Express Entry pool.

The Express Entry system is Canada’s primary source of skilled foreign workers. It manages the profiles of candidates under three Federal High Skilled economic class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FST) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Eligible candidates enter the Express Entry pool, where they are issued a CRS score based on their age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French, among other factors.  A set number of highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool.

Since the beginning of 2021, Canada has only been conducting PNP and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) specific Express Entry draws as these candidates are highly likely to be in Canada already.

IRCC has held total 33 PNP-specific Express Entry draws so far in 2021 in which total 17,785 candidates have received invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residency.

A total of 188 immigration candidates across Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact streams of PEI PNP received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residency.

Out of total invitations issued, 172 went to Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates. Another 16 invitations were issued to Business Impact candidates under the Work Permit Stream.  The Minimum Point Threshold for business impact candidates was 67.

Stream Total Invitations issued Minimum Score Requirement
Express Entry & Labour Impact 172 No Info. provided

PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category is for candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system. Express Entry candidates, who would like to be considered for a provincial nomination from the province, need to create a separate Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP.

Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination get an additional 600 point toward their overall Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which effectively guarantees them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

PEI PNP’s Labour Impact Category is not aligned with the Express Entry system and is designed for foreign nationals with a valid job offer in the province and support from a PEI employer.

Candidates in this category may fall under three possible streams: Skilled Worker (in PEI and outside Canada), Critical Worker and International Graduate.

PEI PNP’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream is for individuals interested in owning and operating a business on the island. This stream also operates on a points-based EOI system.

PEI PNP conducts one immigration invitation round every month. The total number of invitations issued so far this year by PEI is 1,729.

The next PEI PNP draw is scheduled for December 16, 2021.
