New Updated Numbers for the Alberta PNP as of January 17, 2023

Alberta PNP (Provincial Nominee Program), officially known as Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), updated the information and numbers on their official website on January 17, 2023.

There was no Alberta Express Entry draw after July 2022 for four months. This was due to Alberta issuing all 6,500 nomination certificates allotted by the IRCC for 2022.

However, AAIP updated that they held one draw on December 8, 2022 inviting 129 Express Entry profiles having CRS cut off score 305 and above.

In 2022, AAIP invited 2,449 Express Entry profiles. The lowest CRS cut off score was 305 in the December 2022 draw, and the highest was 473 in the July 2022 draw.

For express entry candidates with a low CRS score, the Alberta PNP is one of the best options.

Alberta PNP invited 400 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian PR

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), which will now be called the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), released the details of its latest immigration draw held earlier this month.

On February 1, Canada’s province of Alberta invited 400 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian Permanent Residency through AINP’s Express Entry Stream.

Candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 340 in order to be invited in this draw.

Express Entry candidates, who successfully receive a nomination from Alberta or any Express Entry aligned PNP, get an additional 600 points towards their overall CRS score. This effectively increase their chances to get an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Express Entry- PNP round of invitations.

New PNP name and immigration programs

Speaking at the inaugural Premier’s Summit on Fairness for Newcomers, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney also announced the Alberta’s immigration program- the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program will now be called the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).

He also announced the launch of two new immigration streams – the Rural Renewal Stream and the Rural Entrepreneur Stream that are intended to encourage foreign skilled professionals and entrepreneurs to settle in rural Alberta communities.

The Rural Renewal Stream is designed for candidates who have an eligible job offer from an Alberta employer to work in a designated rural Alberta community.

The Rural Entrepreneur Stream is intended for foreign entrepreneurs who want to establish or buy an existing business in a rural Alberta community.

Alberta invited total 835 Express Entry candidates to apply for provincial nomination through two PNP draws conducted in September, 2021

Alberta’s Provincial Nominee Program – The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) published details of its two immigration draws held in the month of September, 2021.

A total of 835 Express Entry candidates received invitations, also known as Notification of Interest (NOI) Letters, to apply for provincial nomination for Canadian Permanent Residency in these draws.

The first round of invitations was conducted on September 14, where 385 Express Entry candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination.

In second draw on September 21, AINP invited another 450 immigration candidates.

In order to be eligible to receive an invitation in these draws, candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 300 in the Express Entry system.

The Alberta Express Entry Stream of AINP allows the province to search the federal Express Entry Pool for candidates who meet its specific eligibility requirements and invite them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

In order to apply under this stream, candidates need to have work experience in an eligible occupation that supports province’s economic development and diversification priorities.

Although no job offer is required to apply under Alberta PNP; AINP generally gives preference to candidates who have a job offer and/or work experience or have a parent, child, brother and/or sister living in Alberta who is a citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada.

AINP has now invited total 5,342 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination so far in 2021.

Alberta PNP invited 500 Express Entry Candidates to apply for provincial nomination in its largest PNP draw on September 7, 2021

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) released details of its largest immigration draw to date conducted on September 7, 2021.

A total of 500 Express Entry candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of at least 300 received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian Permanent Residency in this draw.

The Alberta Express Entry Stream is Express Entry-aligned stream of AINP that allows the province search the federal Express Entry system for candidates who meet its specific eligibility requirements and invites them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

Candidates do not require having any job offers in the province to be invited to apply for a provincial nomination through this Stream. However, they need to have work experience in an eligible occupation that supports province’s economic development and diversification priorities.

Assessment Criteria

Applicants need to meet the following assessment criteria to submit an application to the Alberta Express Entry Stream. The applicant must:

  • have an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool
  • meet the criteria of at least one of the federal immigration programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program or Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • intend to and be able to live and work in Alberta
  • be working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification
  • have a Comprehensive Ranking System score of at least 300

In addition, there are certain factors that can increase applicant’s chances of receiving invitation, like:

  • having a job offer and/or work experience in the province;
  • hold a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; or
  • having a parent, child, or sibling who is a permanent resident or citizen in Alberta

Express Entry candidates who successfully receive a nomination from Alberta, obtain  an additional 600 points toward their CRS score, which effectively increase their chances to get an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Express Entry draw.

Alberta has now invited 4,507 Express Entry candidates so far in 2021. AINP is permissible to issue total 6,250 nomination certificates this year.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) invited 396 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residency in its biggest immigration draw of the year on August 10.

In order to receive an invitation in this draw, candidates were required to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 300.

The invited candidates can now apply for a provincial nomination through the Alberta Express Entry stream of AINP.

The Alberta Express Entry Stream of AINP allows the province to search the federal Express Entry Pool for candidates who meet its specific eligibility requirements and invite them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

Candidates do not require having any job offers in the province to be invited to apply for a provincial nomination through this Stream. However, they need to have work experience in an eligible occupation that supports province’s economic development and diversification priorities.

There are certain factors that can increase your likelihood of being nominated, like:

  • having a job offer and/or work experience in the province;
  • hold a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; or
  • having a parent, child, or sibling who is a permanent resident or citizen in Alberta

AINP has now invited 3,157 Express Entry candidates so far this year. The province is allowed to issue total 6,250 nomination certificates in 2021.
