EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #206: September 29, 2021

Canada invited 761 PNP candidates to apply for permanent residence on September 29, 2021

Immigration candidates who had previously received nominations under an Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) were eligible for this round of invitations.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement for this draw was 742. A provincial nomination automatically awards a candidate 600 additional CRS points; therefore PNP draws always have higher cut-off threshold than any other type of Express Entry draw.

Eligible candidates enter the Express Entry pool, where they are issued a CRS score based on their age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French, among other factors.  A set number of highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool.

Express Entry-aligned PNPs

With an aim to attract highly skilled immigrants and deal with labour market needs, many of Canada’s provinces and territories have provincial nominee immigration streams linked to federal Express Entry.

Immigration candidates, who obtain a nomination from an Express Entry-aligned PNP, automatically receive 600 points toward their overall CRS score, eventually enabling him/her receive an ITA quickly.

Invited Express Entry candidates now have 60 days to submit their complete application for Canadian permanent residence. If their application gets approved, IRCC will issue them a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR).

So far this year, IRCC has invited total 109,696 Express Entry Candidates under PNP and CEC streams to apply for Canada PR.

3,000 CEC candidates received invitations to apply for Canada permanent residency in new Express Entry Draw

EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #202: August 19, 2021

Canada invited 3,000 Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates to apply for permanent residence in new Express Entry Draw held on August 19.

In order to get an invitation in this draw, candidates needed to have Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 403.

Only those CEC candidates with minimum CRS score of 403, who had submitted their Express Entry profiles before August 01, 2021 at 10:13:57 UTC, received invitations in this draw as per the tie-break rule applied by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The Express Entry system is Canada’s primary source of skilled foreign workers. It manages the profiles of candidates under three Federal High Skilled economic class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is an immigration category for foreign workers who have at least one year of full-time (or an equivalent in part-time) skilled, professional or technical work experience in Canada within the last three years and who wish to become permanent residents.

It is an ideal route to Canadian permanent residency for international students as it offers them the fastest and most simple path to achieving permanent residence after completing a program or course of study at a Canadian educational institution and acquiring required work experience.

CEC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

In order to be eligible to apply under CEC, applicants must:

  • have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equivalent in part-time) skilled, professional or technical work experience one or more occupations classified as skill type 0, A or B under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) in Canada within the last three years of making application;
  • meet the required language proficiency level equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 7 if their job falls under NOC 0 or A or 5 if their job falls under NOC B; and
  • plan on living and working outside the province of Quebec.

IRCC has conducted total 32 Express Entry draws so far in 2021. Total 105,779 invitations have been issued to CEC and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates, which is almost double the number of ITAs issued at the same time last year.

463 PNP candidates received invitations to apply for Canada PR in new Express Entry Draw on August 18

EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #201: August 18, 2021

Canada invited 463 immigration candidates who had previously received a nomination from an Express Entry-linked Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), to apply for permanent residence in new Express Entry draw held on August 18.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off threshold for this draw was 751 points.

Immigration candidates, who obtain a nomination from an Express Entry-aligned PNP, automatically receive 600 points toward their overall CRS score.  This is the reason that CRS cut-off score for PNP-specific draws is usually high.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied the tie-breaking rule and the time-stamp used was April 13th, 2021 at 16:29:29 UTC. This means the PNP candidates who had a CRS score of 751 or more and had submitted their Express Entry profile before this time and date, received an invitation to apply (ITA) in this draw.

Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is one of the most popular immigration pathways for skilled workers, international students and entrepreneur immigrants.

PNP enables participating Canadian provinces and territories to nominate a certain number of economic immigrants for Canadian permanent residence each year. A part of these nominations are known as ‘enhanced’ nominations that allow a province or territory to nominate candidates in the federal Express Entry system.

Express Entry candidates who receive a nomination by a Canadian province or territory are awarded an additional 600 points toward their Express Entry ranking score, which directly increase their chances to receive an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

So far in 2021, Canada only conducted PNP and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) specific draws as these candidates are highly likely to be in Canada already. If go with the trends, there are chances that IRCC might hold an Express Entry round of invitations for CEC candidates within a day or two.

Canada has now issued total 102,779 ITAs through the Express Entry system so far this year.
