New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP)

The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) allows foreign skilled workers and their family members to settle in New Brunswick permanently by obtaining Permanent Resident visa.

Under NB PNP, foreign skilled workers may qualify under one of the following categories:

  • Express Entry Labour Market Stream
  • Skilled Worker with Family Support
  • Skilled Worker with Employer Support
  1. Express Entry Labour Market Stream

The NBPNP’s Express Entry Labour Market Stream (EELMS) allows the province to search federal Express Entry immigration selection system and invite applicants for provincial nomination who possess the skills, education and work experience needed to contribute to New Brunswick’s economy and demographic needs.

In order to receive an invitation through NBPNP – EELMS, candidates first need to first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile demonstrating their skills and qualifications.

Eligible candidates are awarded a score. The highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply to the NBPNP for provincial nomination through regular draws.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to be eligible for the NBPNP – Express Entry Labour Market Stream, candidates must:

  • age between 22 and 55;
  • have a minimum 12 months of full-time or equivalent part-time paid skilled work experience in NOC Skill Type 0, Skill Level A or B in New Brunswick in the three years before the application is made;
  • demonstrate sufficient English and/or French language proficiency in each of the four language abilities (speaking, reading, writing, and listening) equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7;
  • hold a Canadian secondary (high school) or post-secondary educational credential OR a foreign educational credential from a recognized institution or authority with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report issued by a designated organization;
  • hold a valid job offer from a New Brunswick employer (If the applicant is being considered for provincial nomination under an occupation);
  • intend to live and Work in New Brunswick (applicants need to sign and submit a form); and
  • Have sufficient funds to support the settlement of themselves as well as all dependent family members in Canada.

NOTE: Applicants who are currently working or authorized to work in Canada as well as applicants with a valid job offer of arranged employment in Canada are not required to provide the proof of sufficient settlement funds.

  1. Skilled Worker with Family Support

The Skilled Worker with Family Support stream of NBPNP is designed for individuals who have worked in New Brunswick and have close family ties to the province.

In order to be eligible to apply under this category, the skilled worker applicant along with his or her spouse must be sponsored by a family member in New Brunswick.

The applicant must be related to the family supporter in one of the following ways:

  • Non-dependent child
  • Brother or sister
  • Niece or nephew (children of brothers or sisters)
  • Grandchild

Eligibility Requirements

In order to be eligible under this stream, candidates must:

  • age between 22 and 50;
  • have a minimum 2 years of continuous, full-time work experience within the last five years in their intended occupation in New Brunswick;
  • demonstrate sufficient English or French language ability with valid language test results;
  • have the education, qualifications, and/or licence/certification required to perform the job duties in their proposed occupation;
  • have either a post-secondary academic degree requiring at minimum three years of full-time study, or a diploma in a specific trade requiring at minimum two years of full-time study;
  • have a job in one of the following National Occupation Classification (NOC) skill levels:
  • Skill levels 0, A or B
  • Skill level C, Category 1, 3, 7, 8, 9
  • Skill level D, Category 1, 3, 7, 8, 9
  • intend to live and work in New Brunswick;
  • submit a Settlement Plan approved by an immigration Program Officer; and
  • possess the sufficient funds to settle in New Brunswick ( a minimum of $10,000 CAD, and an additional $2,000 for each accompanying family member).

 

  1. Skilled Worker with Employer Support

 The Skilled Worker with Employer Support category of NBPNP is designed for foreign workers who have received a full-time, permanent offer of employment from a New Brunswick employer.

 Eligibility Requirements

In order to be eligible under this Stream, candidates must:

  • age between 22 and 55 years of age;
  • have at least a high school level of education;
  • possess sufficient English or French language proficiency;
  • undergo mandatory testing at a designated testing agency if their occupation falls in NOC levels C and D. They might be asked to submit the results with their application;
  • have the education, qualifications, and/or licenses and certification needed to perform their job duties in New Brunswick;
  • have a genuine full-time, permanent job offer from an eligible New Brunswick employer in one of the following NOC skill levels:
  • Skill levels O, A, B
  • Skill level C, Skill type 1, 3, 7, 8, 9
  • Skill level D, Skill type 1, 3, 7, 8, 9
  • have already been working for the same employer issuing the job offer for at least one year prior to application (if their occupation falls in NOC levels C and D);
  • intend to live and work in New Brunswick; and
  • Score a minimum of 50 points on a selection grid.

Selection Factors

Applicants who meet all other eligibility criteria outlined above will then be assessed according to five selection factors – Age, language ability, Education, Work experience and connections to the province.

To qualify under the Skilled Worker with Employer Support Stream, candidates must score a minimum of 50 points.
