Nova Scotia invited Express Entry Candidates For Provincial Nomination In New Labour Market Priorities Stream Draw on December 1

Nova Scotia issued new invitations to apply for a nomination for Canadian permanent residence to Express Entry Candidates through its Labour Market Priorities immigration stream draw held on December 1.

However, the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) did not provide information on total number invitations, also known as Letters of Interest (LOI), issued in the draw.

The Labour Market Priorities Stream of NSNP targets Express Entry candidates based on the Nova Scotia’s labour market needs. This stream is flexible and the skilled occupations as well as criteria specified under this can change with each draw, depending on province’s labour market and social needs. For instance, NSNP has targeted programmers and media developers, nurses and automotive industry workers in recent draws.

In order to qualify for a provincial nomination from Nova Scotia through this Stream, candidates first need to have a valid profile in the Federal Express Entry system.

Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination get an additional 600 points toward their overall Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which effectively guarantees them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

In order to receive an invitation in December 1 draw; candidates were required to demonstrate that they have:

  • a full-time job offer from a Nova Scotia employer that must be valid for at least one year after the permanent resident visa is issued
  • at least one year of skilled, job-related work experience
  • a Canadian secondary school diploma or the equivalent
  • a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of 5 or higher in French or English

Candidates, who received an LOI in this invitation round now have 30 calendar days to submit a complete application for provincial nomination to NSNP.

Candidates must include the required supporting documentation/letters of reference from employers to demonstrate work experience, language test results and proof of education with their application.

CRS dropped to 469 in latest Express Entry Draw; 5000 candidates received ITAs for permanent residency

EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #168: November 25, 2020

Canada conducted another Express Entry Draw just at a gap of one week on November 25.

The highest-ever 5000 Invitations to apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residency, were issued to immigration candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score of 469.

The CRS cut-off threshold dipped below 470 for the first time in an all-program draw this year.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied the tie-breaking rule and the time-stamp used was October 15, 2020, at 08:50:10 UTC. This means the candidates who had a CRS score of 469 or more, who had submitted their Express Entry profile before this time and date, received an invitation in this draw.

The Express Entry system is Canada’s primary source of skilled foreign workers. It manages the profiles of candidates under three Federal High Skilled economic class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.

Eligible candidates enter the Express Entry pool, where they are issued a CRS score based on their age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French, among other factors.

A set number of highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool.

The new draw brings the total number of ITAs issued so far in 2020 to 97,350, which put Canada on the track to surpass 100,000 ITAs issued in 2020 – the highest ever in one year.

The highest-ever number of ITAs issued in last two Express Entry invitation rounds, are in line with Canada’s commitment to welcome over 400,000 new immigrants in 2021. More than 100,000 of these immigrants will come through the Express Entry system.

Prince Edward Island (PEI) issued 254 invitations for provincial nomination on November 19

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) held its latest immigration draw on November 19, 2020.

A total of 254 Express Entry, Labour Impact, and Business Impact candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination in this draw.

Out of total 254 invites issued, 221 went to Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates. However, the PEI PNP did not provide a breakdown of how many Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates were invited, nor the minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score required for each category.

The remaining 33 invitations were issued to Business Impact candidates under the Work Permit Stream. The invited Business Impact candidates had a minimum point threshold of 92.

EXPRESS ENTRY CATEGORY

PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category is for candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system.

Express Entry candidates, who would like to be considered for a provincial nomination from the province, need to create a separate EOI profile with the PEI PNP.

These profiles are given a score on the basis of information provided in their EOI based on factors such as education, work experience and proficiency in English or French. The highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws.

Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination get an additional 600 point toward their overall Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which effectively guarantees them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

LABOUR IMPACT CATEGORY

PEI PNP’s Labour Impact Category is not aligned with the Express Entry system and is designed for foreign nationals with a valid job offer in the province and support from a PEI employer.

Candidates in this category may fall under three possible streams: Skilled Worker (in PEI and outside Canada), Critical Worker and International Graduate.

ENTREPRENEUR STREAM

PEI PNP’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream is for individuals interested in owning and operating a business on the island. This stream also operates on a points-based EOI system.

Saskatchewan invited 551 Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand candidates in new PNP draw

The new Saskatchewan Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw invited over 500 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residency.

This latest Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) draw that took place on November 19, issued total 551 invitations to Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand candidates who had work experience in certain occupations.

Out of total invitations issued, 214 went to candidates having a profile in Express Entry System. In order to be invited, these candidates were required to have an Expression of Interest (EOI) score of at least 78, Educational Credential Assessments, and work experience in one of 56 occupations.

Another 337 invitations were issued to candidates with work experience in one of the 75 occupations under the Occupations In-Demand subcategory. EOI score of the lowest ranked candidate invited under this sub-category was 80.

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Programor SINP, allows the province to nominate qualified foreign workers who have the potential to thrive in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

It is also one of the easiest Provincial Nominee Programs to apply. While a minimum of one year of full-time work experience is essential to apply for both of its subcategories – Express Entry and Occupation in Demand, a job offer or work experience in Canada is not required to be eligible.

In order to apply for a provincial nomination through either of these streams, candidates need to first register an EOI with the SINP.

Eligible EOIs are then awarded a score out of 100 based on the SINP’s International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid, which allot them points based on their work experience, education, language ability, age, and connections to the province. High-scoring candidates are then invited to apply for provincial nomination through regular draws conducted by the SINP.

Express Entry candidates, who obtain a nomination through the SINP’s Express Entry sub-category, receive additional 600 points toward their CRS scores, effectively increasing their chances to get an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Express Entry draw.
