Canada invited 4,250 Express Entry candidates to apply for Permanent Residency (PR) on October 12, 2022

In a new Express Entry draw held on October 12, a total of 4,250 candidates were issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR).

Immigration applicants having a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 500 or above received invitations in this draw.

This is the eighth all-program Express Entry draw this year. Therefore, it considered candidates in all Express Entry programs: Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades (FST).

Results: Round of invitations

  • Draw No: #233
  • Date and time of round: October 12, 2022 14:13:11 UTC
  • Total invitations to apply (ITAs) issued: 4,250
  • CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 500
  • Tie-breaking rule: October 10, 2022 17:10:53 UTC

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) also applied the tie-breaking rule in this draw and the time-stamp was set for October 10, 2022 17:10:53 UTC. If more than one candidate has the lowest CRS score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their profiles in the Express Entry pool.

Express Entry System

Express Entry is a system adopted by the Canadian Government to manage applications for Canadian permanent residence through three economic immigration programs – Federal Skilled Worker, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades.

The system boasts efficient processing time, with the majority of applications being processed between six to eight months.

How does it work?

In brief, candidates are required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) by creating a profile in the Express Entry portal summarizing their skills and credentials including age, education, language, work experience, and others.

Following the submission, eligible candidates are entered into a pool of applicants, where the Comprehensive Ranking System will be automatically applicable and applicants will be ranked on a scale of 1200 points.

The highly ranked candidates will then be invited to apply for permanent residency as skilled immigrants through regular draws from the pool by IRCC.
